The Public Works garage depot is located in the Industrial Park in the Nackawic-Millville Rural Community. The Department consists of a Director and three full time personnel.

The Department is responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of the water supply and distribution system including daily checks on equipment and lines, testing as required to comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act and repairs as required. In 1999 Nackawic’s water quality was recognized by the Canadian Water Resources Association as being one of the top four in the country.

The installation, operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection and treatment system includes daily checks on equipment and lines, testing as required to comply with the water quality regulations of the Clean Environment Act, and repairs as required.

Other responsibilities include maintenance of all municipal land and structures, streets and sidewalks, snow clearing, storm drains and hydrant maintenance.

Garbage Collection

Is being provided by Fero and Li’l Truckin’ Aarons depending on location. Fero can be contacted at 506-472-3376 and Li’l Truckin’ Aarons can be contacted at 506-363-2682.

Recycling

Pick up takes place on the first Tuesday of the month. Any questions please contact Fero at 506-472-3376 or the Municipal Office at 506-575-2241.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

Residents may take their household hazardous waste, ie. paint, oil, pesticides, flammable or corrosive materials to the Fredericton Solid Waste Commission, 1775 Alison Blvd. 506-453-9938 twice a week on Wednesdays from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm and Saturdays from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm.
