The Public Works garage depot is located in the Industrial Park in the Town of Nackawic. The Department consists of a Supervisor and one full time personnel.
The Department is responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of the water supply and distribution system including daily checks on equipment and lines, testing as required to comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act and repairs as required. In 1999 Nackawic's water quality was recognized by the Canadian Water Resources Association as being one of the top four in the country.
The installation, operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection and treatment system includes daily checks on equipment and lines, testing as required to comply with the water quality regulations of the Clean Environment Act, and repairs as required.
Other responsibilities include maintenance of all municipal land and structures, streets and sidewalks, snow clearing, storm drains and hydrant maintenance.

Garbage collection will begin to be provided by Kearney's as of Friday, February 1, 2013. They can be contacted at 328-6139.
Recycling pick up takes place on the first Tuesday of the month. Any questions may be directed to Trius at 459-7300.
Hazardous waste disposal-Residents may take their household hazardous waste, ie. paint, oil, pesticides, flammable or corrosive materials to the Fredericton Solid Waste Commission,1775 Allison Drive on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.

As spring is approaching we're all eager to renovate or start construction. Since March 17, 2014, all development and construction projects in Nackawic are overseen by Regional Service Commission 11 Planning and Development (RSC 11). If you have any questions regarding Nackawic Building By-Law B1 or building and development permits, call RSC 11 at 453-2956 or the Town Office at 575-2241.
The Town of Nackawic Public Works Department will be carrying out maintenance to the town's fire hydrants beginning Monday, May 9th and continuing for approximately three (3) weeks until Friday, May 27th. The fire hydrants will be flushed out, and along with this the exercising of the chlorination system will take place.
SPRING CLEAN-UP - will be on Friday May 20th. Regular garbage pickup will also be on this same day. The following guidelines will apply:
- All refuse must be at the roadside by 7:00 am on the day of pick up. All loose refuse must be properly bagged or boxed - no item to exceed 50 lbs in weight.
- Scrap lumber and tree cuttings must not exceed 4 feet in length, nor exceed 50 lbs in weight, and must be securely bundled.
- White goods will also be collected at this time!!
- Auto parts including tires, engines, gas tanks, etc.
- Paints, solvents, motor oil, or any other type of dangerous/hazardous materials.
